Botox
Botox is a purified protein derived from botulism toxin and is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent that works at motor nerve endings (nerves that lead to muscles). It acts as a nerve impulse blocker; in other words it keeps muscles from contracting, which makes them appear relaxed or smooth.
Within several days to a week after the botulinum toxin is injected into the affected muscle(s), the spasms or contractions are reduced or eliminated altogether. The effects of botox are not permanent, reportedly lasting anywhere from three to eight months. By injecting the toxin directly into a certain muscle or muscle group, the risk of botox spreading to other areas of the body is greatly diminished.
The botox molecule is tagged to albumin to attach it to protein and prevent extensive spread.
When botox -- botulinum toxin A -- is injected into the muscles surrounding the eyes, for instance, those muscles can not "scrunch up" for a period of time. They are paralyzed. So the wrinkles in that area, often referred to as "crow's-feet," temporarily go away.
Botox shots are widely and successfully used to remove facial lines, especially frown lines, "crow's feet," and forehead lines.
Collagen
Collagen® is derived from cow protein and is used as
a soft tissue filler to plump up lines, wrinkles and folds of the
face.
It can also be used to augment the ridges of the lips and can fill depressed acne scars.
It is performed as an office visit and will need to be repeated at 3-6 month intervals to maintain its’ "anti-aging” effects.
When the nasolabial folds and jowls are properly treated, the individual regains a softer more youthful appearance to the face.
If required the collagen can be added using local anaesthetic to eliminate any discomfort Collagen can smooth out, fill in and decrease wrinkles.
Lip Augmentation
Both injectable permanent and temporary solutions are available. A reversible option such as Gore-Tex is our preferred implant of choice. While considered permanent these possess the benefit of being removed in the event of a problem.
The implants are placed by means of 4 small incisions. It takes about a week for most of the swelling to subside although it will be sensitive to light to medium pressure for 3 weeks. The results are usually immediate.
Restylane
Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin. It can correct facial wrinkles and folds, enhance thinning lips and restore ageing hands and cleavage
