At Gentle Dental we think that the developing dentition is very important. We recommend bringing children from an early age in order that they become acclimatised to the dentist. Initial visits might simply involve playing on the chair with a quick look at the teeth to make the visit fun.
We have a totally enclosed outdoor ‘tooth fairy’ themed play castle with slide etc along with a good selection of toys, games, books and puzzles indoors to make coming to the dentist fun.
Throughout the year we also run a child – themed smile day where dentists and staff alike dress up in fancy dress to entertain groups of children. The play castle is available for use by children up to 8 years of age.

For the slightly older child we support the use of sealants (protective coatings) on the adult teeth to prevent decay , and appreciate the importance of education for good diet and good oral hygiene.
For teenagers we can provide simple orthodontics (braces) here at the practice, or for more complex cases we have the back up of the local consultant orthodontist and have introduced the clearstep system (www.clearstep.co.uk) .
Above all coming to the dentist should be fun and we work hard to provide our younger patients with care and compassion, so that they enjoy their visit.
